In fact, the smaller sized tablet has managed to gain over half of the market in Android tablet sales. The Kindle made up 54.4% of market share in February, up from the 41.8% just a month earlier. Samsung's Galaxy Tab family, which preciously had 23.8% of the market share in December, now only has 15.4%.
Samsung, however, is not alone in its decreased market share, as nearly every other major Android tablet suffered from a loss in the past couple months. Amazon, however, has held its ground firmly with the 7-inch Kindle Fire.
So, what is it about the Kindle that has made it so popular? It's most likely the combination of a cheaper price tag and strong backing from Amazon. Amazon is a trusted company that has a loyal user base, something that other companies are lacking. While the larger 10 inch Android tablet has suffered, the Kindle Fire continues to strive.
What do you think about these statistics? Should Apple be worried about Amazon's recent success with the Kindle? Or are the two tablets aimed at different consumer groups?
